Judy Collins’ Mixtape Memoir:
Folk SHERO

It is a huge honor to bring you the story and life soundtrack of a living legend. A multi-Grammy winning singer, songwriter, activist, and author who has been performing and recording since the early 60’s. Six decades into her career, she remains a vibrant and creative force, and at 83, she gives new meaning to the word “prolific”. Judy Collins is an inspiration and an icon. Today, her signature voice rings clear and true as ever. She was the woman who kickstarted the careers of Leonard Cohen and Joni Mitchell, and many others by recording their songs and making them hits, and her passion for discovering the next great song still burns bright. In the past 6 years alone she made her highest billboard 200 chart debut, and received her first Grammy nomination in forty years. She also continues to tour intensely and when touring came to a standstill during the pandemic, Judy didn’t waste any time finding ways to stay creative. She challenged herself to do something she’d never done before and recorded her first album of all-original material called Spellbound - her 55th album overall and her 6th in six years, which she released earlier this year. Many of the songs document her life story, including growing up in Colorado, her love life, the early Greenwich Village folk scene, and her experiences with substance abuse. So as she has been in the mode of looking back at her life and putting her experiences into songs, it felt like the perfect time to invite Judy Collins to join us to create her Mixtape Memoir.
