Snail Mail’s Valentine Mixtape Memoir:
My Favorite Holiday

Singer, songwriter, guitarist and producer Lindsey Jordan began her journey to indie rock stardom as a wunderkind living in Ellicott City, Maryland. she picked up the guitar at age 6, started writing songs in her early teens, and before graduating high school had already recorded and released two EP’s as Snail Mail - 2015’s Sticki and Habit in 2016. Her breakthrough came with a batch of songs written when she was just 17 - the exceptional 2018 full length debut, Lush.

Truthfully, her age is almost besides the point. At any age, Lindsey Jordan and the music she makes as Snail Mail is phenomenal. However, explosive success as a teenager can take its toll, and after a soul-searching time during the pandemic that saw her returning to her childhood home where those first songs were written, Lindsey Jordan re-emerged in early November of 2021 with Valentine - her triumphant sophomore album, aptly titled for its songs brimming over with love, heartbreak, and longing, for women who she had loved, and women she had left. It had been three years since her critically hailed debut, and in the midst of a pandemic that essentially shut down live shows as we know it, so anticipation was high for her new album.

But soon Lindsey would go quiet again, this time for a much different reason: a month after the album came out, she underwent unexpected but necessary vocal cord surgery, which put an abrupt end to her promotional appearances for Valentine, and her upcoming tour in jeopardy. So it feels like kismet that for our Season Two finale of Mixtape Memoir, Lindsey Jordan is resurfacing on Valentine’s Day, with her very first interview back since the surgery, to create this super special Valentine Mixtape Memoir.
